EMAIL TO EMPLOYEE FOR CONSENT TO REDUCE SALARY ALLOWANCE TO WORK FROM HOME
Dear [Mr. James R. Williamson],
Greetings!
As we are all aware, the [COVID-19] pandemic has posed challenges to many sectors. The educational sector is one that has been significantly affected by the [pandemic]. Being a part of this sector, East Shores University is taking steps to protect the well-being of its faculty and staff. Among these steps were the quick implementation of social distancing, [online classes], and [work-from-home] setups. The said decisions were made with your safety at the forefront of our decision-making process.
However, to continuously provide the support that you can always expect from us, the university also needs to protect its future well-being and financial stability. After several deliberations and analysis conducted, the administration has come to a crucial but necessary decision to temporarily reduce [salary/allowance] where possible. The administration has deemed it necessary to temporarily cease providing monthly transportation allowance of all employees who are working from home. In addition, overtime work is ceased for the time being.
That being said, we are asking for your consent on this matter. Rest assured that as soon as the situation will improve, you will receive your normal pay and can also do overtime work again. To mitigate the impact of the [pandemic] on the [university], it has taken into account all the possibilities and alternatives and sees this measure with the least impact on the faculty and staff.
East Shores University is grateful for your dedication and hard work, especially during these trying times. Know that you are an essential part of the university's and therefore we are always committed to ensuring your safety. Should you have any questions regarding this matter, do not hesitate to ask your immediate department head.
Respectfully,
[Ms. Eva C. Howard]
[Vice President for Human Resources, East Shores University]
