Job Role and Summary

The Commercial Electrician focuses on the electrical systems and wiring of commercial buildings. The Commercial Electrician will install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, wirings, and fixtures. In performing the expected duties and responsibilities, the Commercial Electrician needs to assure that his/her work adheres to relevant safety codes and procedures.

A. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs installation and repairs of electrical wirings, apparatus, and fixtures.
  • Maintains the good working condition of all electrical tools and equipment.
  • Ensures the proper usage and handling of electrical tools and equipment during electrical processes.
  • Adheres to all electrical codes and safety regulations at all times.
  • Performs inspections and tests regularly to determine issues, malfunctions, defects, and hazards.
  • Reads the blueprints and electrical drawings to understand the electrical specifications.
  • Connects wires and cables to transformers, circuit breakers, and other components.
  • Prepares safety reports and analysis when needed.
  • Guides and supervises apprentices in performing commercial electricity-related works.
  • Works with a variety of hand tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutter, and wire stripper.
